Emphasises the Importance of Education, Values and Discipline; Highlights the Role of Technology and Skill Development in Shaping Students’ Futures
PUNE: In an era driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and rapid technological advancements, students have a significant role to play in shaping the future of society and the nation. Emphasising the importance of value-based education, Prof. Phulchand Chate, Director of Chate School and Junior College, stated that ideal students can contribute to building an ideal society and a progressive nation. He underlined that parents and teachers play a pivotal role in shaping students’ character, personality and future.
Prof. Chate was addressing students of Classes VII to XII during an interactive guidance session on “Education, Values and Learning” organised at Chate School on Satara Road, Pune.
Addressing the students, Prof. Chate emphasised that parents and teachers should be regarded as their true role models. He explained that the foundation of education is laid not merely in the classroom but at home, where children first learn essential values, discipline and responsibility. He urged parents to nurture good habits and moral values in their children from an early age.
He also encouraged students to communicate openly with their parents and teachers about their thoughts, concerns, difficulties and questions. According to him, open communication and mutual trust are essential for the holistic development of students.
Responsible Use of Mobile Phones and Social Media
Expressing concern over the increasing use of mobile phones and social media among students, Prof. Chate stressed the need for responsible digital habits. He observed that excessive and unregulated screen time can adversely affect students’ concentration, learning habits and overall development.
He urged parents to monitor their children’s mobile phone usage and encourage them to develop a regular reading habit. Highlighting the importance of books in expanding knowledge and broadening perspectives, he expressed the need to create an environment where students develop a greater interest in reading and learning beyond digital screens.
Integrating Modern Technology with Skill Development
Highlighting the importance of preparing students for the future, Prof. Chate stated that educational institutions must strike a balance between traditional values and modern technological advancements.
He noted that innovative learning initiatives, including Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Coding and foreign language education, have been introduced across the branches of Chate Public School to equip students with relevant skills and prepare them for emerging career opportunities.
He further emphasised that the effective integration of technology into education, combined with strong moral values, discipline and practical skills, would help students become confident, responsible and future-ready individuals.
The session reinforced the message that quality education goes beyond academic achievement. A strong foundation of values, guidance from parents and teachers, responsible technology use and continuous skill development are essential to nurturing well-rounded individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to society.
The programme was attended by the school’s principal, teachers and a large number of students, who benefited from the guidance and insights shared during the session.
